Some of the most common buttock appearance complaints expressed by our patients include concerns that their butt is:
- Too flat
- Too small
- Too square
- Too big
- Too saggy
- Dimpled, crinkled, or flabby
- Asymmetrical or lumpy
All of these aesthetic concerns can easily be addressed by one of the buttock procedures offered at Grossman Plastic Surgery.
Ideal buttock augmentation candidates:
- Are unhappy with the appearance of their buttocks
- Would like to add volume and roundness to their butt
- Are in good overall health
- Have realistic expectations for the outcome of the procedure
- Do not smoke or are willing to quit smoking prior to the procedure and throughout the recovery period
In addition to the criteria listed above, you must have an ample amount of excess body fat in a donor region such as the abdomen, back or thighs if you prefer the Brazilian butt lift technique. If you don't have enough body fat to harvest for this fat transfer technique, you can still achieve excellent results from one of the other buttock augmentation options we offer.
Our surgeons offer three options to improve the appearance of your buttocks:
- Buttock lift
- Buttock implants
- Brazilian butt lift (buttock augmentation with fat transfer)
The right option for you will depend on your body type and aesthetic goals. During your initial consultation, Dr. Grossman, Dr. Capraro and Dr. Baker will work with you to create a customized treatment plan that will most effectively address your unique concerns and goals.
The buttock lift is performed to achieve a more toned, sculpted buttocks region. Dr. Baker, Dr. Grossman, and Dr. Capraro will remove excess skin and reshape the buttocks. The remaining skin is pulled tight to provide you with a smooth contour.
While this procedure is effective in providing a more toned appearance, it is not as popular as the other two options we offer. If you are looking to add volume to your buttocks region, then you will most likely achieve better results with buttock implants or the Brazilian butt lift techniques.
In the buttock implant procedure, our surgeons will insert ultra-soft silicone implants into the pockets within your buttocks muscles to improve the shape and contour of your butt. This procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia, and you should expect to spend at least one night at the hospital following your surgery.
An incision is made in the groove/crease between the buttocks. Your gluteus maximus muscle will be lifted, and a pocket will be created to hold the implant. A silicone implant is inserted into the pocket on each side of the buttocks. Our surgeons will carefully examine the region to ensure the results are symmetrical and look natural. A compression bandage will be used to help reduce swelling and discomfort.
You will have to wear the compression garment for two to three weeks following surgery. Once you return home, you must be able to manage around the house without sitting or lying on your rear for at least two weeks. At this time, you may begin sitting gently. It will be close to a month before you can sit and lie normally, and you may still experience some tenderness for several months.
A full regimen of activity, including athletics, can be resumed after the first month. Before this, walking and specific stretching will be your primary form of activity. While your results should be noticeable immediately, it may take up to six months before you do not feel the presence of the implants in your body.
The Brazilian butt lift enhances the appearance of your buttocks through a fat transfer method. While this procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, most of our patients prefer to spend the night in one of our suites at the Rose Ambulatory Surgical Center in Denver. At your initial consultation, Dr. Grossman, Dr. Baker and Dr. Capraro will discuss the benefits of each option with you.
Our plastic surgeons will start by performing liposuction in a donor region such as the back, thighs, and abdomen to harvest the fat that will be transferred into your buttocks. As a result, you will receive a dual body contouring benefit from this procedure. The liposuction will help you achieve a more sculpted profile that better accentuates the new curves in your buttocks.
Your fat will be cleansed and purified before being re-injected into your buttocks to ensure that only the best donor fat cells are used for the augmentation. We will inject tiny amounts of fat into different locations of your buttocks at varying depths to create your desired contour. Correct injection methods are crucial to the success of your procedure. When performed correctly, the results will be long lasting, and you should not require touch-ups or additional fat injections.
Due to the highly specialized nature of the procedure, it is crucial that you follow your after-surgery care instructions exactly as prescribed by Grossman | Capraro Plastic Surgery. The success of the Brazilian butt lift is highly dependent on taking the proper steps during the healing period.
You will need to wear a compression garment for two weeks. This garment will help control swelling. It may take as long as six weeks for all swelling to subside.
In order to achieve maximum results, the transplanted fat cells cannot be disturbed by trauma or pressure. Therefore, you will not be able to sit or lie on your buttocks for approximately six weeks following your procedure.
We recommend that you eat your meals standing up during this time period. While it may seem like an inconvenience, it will help ensure the best results for your Brazilian butt lift. When going to the bathroom, you will need to crouch over the toilet
Dr. Grossman, Dr. Baker and Dr. Capraro recommend that you resume light activity immediately following buttock augmentation surgery. They will provide you with detailed instructions as to what types of exercise will be appropriate to facilitate proper healing. A main component of your post-surgical exercise regimen will be walking. You should be able to resume all normal activity after about one month.
Most patients can return to work after about two weeks. However, if your job entails a large amount of sitting, you may want to take additional time off, since sitting on your buttocks immediately following surgery can negatively impact the results of your procedure.
